The 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is here. Every year, during the two and a half months of IPL, the best talents in world cricket come together to compete in the world’s richest cricket tournament. This time also the expectation surrounding the league is immense. Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions and under the leadership of MS Dhoni, they will attempt to win a record sixth title. Apart from CSK, there will also be a lot of interest in Mumbai Indians, who will play under their new captain Hardik Pandya.

Ahead of the IPL, the organizers released a hilarious ad, where Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan can be seen trolling Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer, saying, “10 Rs ka makkhan, Iyer Bhai Dhakkan.”

Reporting the announcement, Iyer wrote, “Kaun dhakkan aur kaun makkhan yeh toh kuch dino mein pata chal jayega Match mein milte hain @hardikpandya7 @ishankishan51.”

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer could end up missing the opening matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, according to a report in the Times of India. The report claimed that the batsman’s old back injury has flared up once again following his 95-run knock for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha. In 2023, Iyer underwent surgery due to the same injury and recent developments may rule him out for the first matches of the IPL 2024. “It doesn’t look good. It’s the same back injury that has aggravated. It is unlikely that he will come out.” field on day 5 of the Ranji Trophy final. He is in danger of missing the opening matches of the IPL,” a source told Times Of India in the report.

The IPL is a crucial tournament for Iyer after he was left out of the BCCI’s central contract list. KKR will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Kolkata on March 23 in their first match of the competition.

Iyer suffered back spasms during his 95-run knock and had to be checked twice by the Mumbai team’s physiotherapist. He also did not take the field for Mumbai on Wednesday and the report claimed that it is highly unlikely that he will play a role again in the Ranji Trophy final.

Iyer had earlier complained about this injury during the recently concluded Test series against England.

“During the recently held Test series against England at home, he had told the Indian team management that this injury was worrying him again,” the source said.

However, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) said it has no new injury problems.
