IND vs ENG Test: No KL Rahul, Team India set to make 2 debuts: Check India’s expected XI for 3rd Test
The Indian cricket team will make a slew of changes to its playing XI for the IND vs ENG third Test in Rajkot. This is mainly due to injury concerns and the absence of some key players in the team. With not KL Rahul, 2 players are all set to get their first Test call-ups. These include people like Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel.
The top order and the bowling department remain unchanged. However, it will be the middle order that will undergo many changes. India will be missing 3 key batsmen – Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, all unavailable for different reasons.
Despite his poor form, Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the hosts against the Three Lions. The Indian captain will open the proceedings with young left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal. The youngster has been in good contact and scoring runs at a furious pace.
At No. 3, Shubman Gill will retain his spot on the team. The classy batsman has failed time and again in red-ball cricket. But an impressive century in the Vizag Test has virtually secured him a place in the team.
The enigma of the middle order
The middle order is the place where there will be 2 debutants. Virat Kohli misses the series due to personal reasons. Shreyas Iyer has been sacked after a series of poor performances. KL Rahul has been ruled out as he is not yet 100% fit for the match. Devdutt Padikkal has been brought in as a replacement for KL.
KS Bharat will also be replaced and youngster Dhruv Jurel is expected to get his chance. Playing at number 4 will be Rajat Patidar, who made his Test debut in the previous game. Sarfaraz Khan, who finally got his call-up in this series, will get his chance in a dream-come-true moment.
Apart from Sarfaraz, 23-year-old Dhruv Jurel will also make his debut. KS Bharat has been poor with the bat and the BCCI Selection Committee has run out of patience with the wicketkeeper. As a result, the young goalkeeper will get his chance in the sun.
Ravindra Jadeja returns to the team after missing the previous Test. Jadeja suffered a hamstring injury in the Hyderabad Test. The all-rounder will undergo a fitness test late. However, reports claim that already received the green light from the medical team.

Axar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin will be the next two batsmen. With Rajkot’s release likely to be slow, India can be expected to do a lot of spin in this game.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will lead the attack. There were reports claiming that Bumrah might be rested. But that is not the case now. Bumrah can be rested for the fourth Test. On the other hand, Siraj joins the team after resting in the 2nd match. He will continue to replace Mukesh Kumar in the team.
