SZA won’t fall asleep during the Grammy Awards because this should be her moment.
The alt-R&B/soul singer earned nine nominations in ’66th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday night, including record, song and album of the year.
Rounding out the top contenders are Jack Antonoff, Jon Batiste, boygenius, Brandy Clark, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift, each of whom has six nominations.
The first winners among the 85 categories presented during the premiere ceremony included SZA (with Phoebe Bridgers), Featherweight, Chris Stapleton, Killer Mike and Eilish. In addition to her win with SZA, indie-pop darling Bridgers also picked up a trio of awards in the rock category with her band, boygenius.
Other notable names include R&B songwriter-turned-singer Victoria Monét and audio engineer Serban Ghenea with seven nominations each.
The star-studded ceremony, featuring performances by Eilish, Rodrigo and British pop star Dua Lipa, airs live on CBS (8 pm EST/5 PST) from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. It will also stream live and on-demand on Paramount+ with Showtime. The first prizes to be awarded before the broadcast will be broadcast live on live.GRAMMY.com.
