The actress, who will be seen playing the role of an investigative journalist who tries to save girls from sexual abuse in the film, recently spoke out about a horrible experience she went through when she was 14 years old.
It so happened that Bhumi was attending a fair in Bandra with her family when, while walking, someone in the crowd kept pinching her butt. She recalled the incident in an interview:
“Someone tried to touch me inappropriately over and over again, and I was getting paranoid. Even though I was with my family, there were also a bunch of kids from my building. But I didn’t say anything at the time because I was baffled by what had happened,” she said. . Speaking about the lasting impact of such incidents, Bhumi said that she still remembers how the pokes and pinches felt. “It’s like your body remembers… these are traumas that you can’t get over.”
The actress added that the perpetrator then “relieved himself” in front of them, leaving her paralyzed and traumatized. “We used to walk back home during that time. He would ‘relieve’ (in front of us). This is an illness. How do you get to that stage of such intense emotion that you think is normal? A lot of times it comes from the education (when you face such incidents). At that moment, you are so paralyzed and traumatized that you just don’t know what to do… You feel so violated,” the actress shared.
