Prince Harry would reportedly consider repairing the royal rift and returning to royal duties if King Charles, 75, asked him to do so amid the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.
Harry, 39, and his wife, Meghan Markle, 42, stepped down as senior members of the royal family in 2020. He remains a state councilor, and fifth in line for the crown, but is not expected to be called to do so. He replaces the King now that he has made California his home.
A royal source said Page six on Friday, “I find it hard to believe that if his father asked him for help, Harry would say no, I think he would try.”
However, the source noted: “I don’t think it’s something Harry would ask (to do) on his own.”
The Post has contacted representatives for Harry and Buckingham Palace for comment.
Harry broke his silence on Charles’ diagnosis on Friday “Good morning america.”
Holed up in Canada training for his Invictus Games, Harry told journalist Will Reeve that he learned of his estranged father’s diagnosis by speaking to him.
“I got on a plane and I went to see him as soon as I could,” he explained, referring to his 24-hour trip to London last week to see his sick father.
“I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go see him and spend time with him, I’m grateful for that,” he added.
When asked by Reeve for his opinion on Charles’s health, Harry replied: “That’s between me and him.”
However, King Charles’ former butler Grant Harrold exclusively told The Post on Friday that the king “won’t be delighted” with Harry’s revelations.
“If Harry is getting into a big argument about something, the royals may not be thrilled,” Harrold revealed.
“I have no idea why Harry feels the need to talk, that’s what I don’t understand. Let’s just say if that upsets the royal family, then Harry doing that will only upset them more.”
Harrold continued: “Playing devil’s advocate, Harry could have asked his family if they were happy for him to talk about it publicly, but I don’t see, and based on my own experiences with the house, I don’t see that happening. .”
“I don’t think William and the king will be thrilled with Harry’s interview. Although the king has already shared some information about his diagnosis, he is very secretive,” he added.
