The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has removed Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) from the list of authorized Fastag providers. The list now has 32 banks and highway toll authority Indian Highways Management Company (IHMCL) has advised users to buy Fastags from banks that are on the list.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended the deadline for Paytm Payments Bank from February 29 to March 15. Post that Fastags issued by Paytm will not work. Users who have money in their Paytm accounts can get the same refund in case they are unable to use it before then.

This means that to get a new Fastag, users must deactivate their old Fastag. Users cannot KYC for new Fastag unless their old Fastag is deactivated.

- Open Paytm app
- Tap the Profile icon (top left corner)
- Tap Help & Support
- From “Banking services and payments”
- Select Fastag option
- Select the “Chat with us” option at the bottom and raise the deactivation request
Steps to deactivate the use of Fastag Paytm Portal
- Fastag Paytm Portal and login with your credentials
- Enter your Fastag number, registered mobile number and other details required for verification.
- Scroll down, click on “Help and Support” option, choose “I want to close my Fastag profile” option
How to buy a new Fastag online You can buy a new Fastag from one of the 32 banks listed on the NHAI website. Users can also apply for Fastag directly from NHAI.

- Download “My FASTag” app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store
- Open the app and scroll down to the “Buy Fastag” option
- It will give you Amazon and Flipkart Link to buy Fastag
- Activate it: In the app, tap on Activate Fastag option → Select Amazon or Flipkart and scan the QR code. Follow the on-screen instructions to activate.
