Prince Harry and Meghan Markle paid a touching surprise visit to the sister of a teacher who died in a school shooting, before singing Happy Birthday to her in a touching video.
The heroic Irma Garcia sacrificed her own life during the Robb Elementary School murder in Texas in May 2022 in an attempt to allow her young students to reach safety.
In a tragic twist, two days later, Irma’s husband, Joe, died of a broken heart.
Irma’s nephew John, 22, took to social media to share photos of the royals’ visit on his social media as the overwhelmed relative said he couldn’t believe how the Sussexes were so “loving and supportive”.
She said the couple had even surprised her mother with a birthday cake, as videos showed a glowing Meghan smiling warmly as she held the white desert.
She and Harry, who was in the background among his family, lead the singing as they joined in the touching scene.
“Meghan Markle singing happy birthday to my mom was the cutest and most adorable thing ever, she even bought her a cake,” Ms. Garcia’s grateful nephew wrote.
John later added: ‘MEGHAN MARKLE AND PRINCE HARRY CAME TO MY HOUSE!?!?!?! “They are such a beautiful couple and I am so blessed, so glad they came to see how the family is doing.”
“It really meant a lot to have Harry and Meghan come to visit the family, there were many tears of joy and heartfelt moments. “They were the kindest and most humble people ever, it was like having family and friends spending an amazing time together, they fit together perfectly, we laughed a lot and shared intimate memories together,” John said. Hello! Magazine.
John explained that the couple had remained in contact with the Garcia family since the senseless shooting.
“They keep in touch every couple of months, sometimes a little more, but with their busy lives, their visit really felt more special,” she said.
Meghan visited Uvalde just two days after the shooting, where she offered her condolences and laid a bouquet of white roses tied with a purple ribbon on the cross for 10-year-old Uziyah Garcia.
