Although Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha was one of the most anticipated films, when it finally hit the theaters in August 2022, it left the audience disappointed. The film failed to make a mark at the box office and barely earned Rs 60 crore at the Indian box office. More than a year after the film’s release, Aamir Khan’s ex-wife Kiran Rao has revealed that the actor was “deeply affected” by the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha.

“It’s really disheartening when you put in all the effort and it doesn’t work, which happened with Laal Singh Chaddha and it definitely affected Aamir quite deeply,” E-Times recently quoted Kiran as saying. He also added that the failure of the film not only affected Aamir but also the entire team.

Released on August 11, 2022, Laal Singh Chaddha starred Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in key roles. It was directed by Advait Chandan and was the official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks’ 1994 film Forrest Gump.

Earlier, Kareena Kapoor also recalled meeting Aamir Khan for the first time after the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha when she shared that the actor seemed very remorseful.

“Aamir and I were at the inauguration of NMACC (Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre). That’s when we (Laal Singh Chaddha) met for the first time. Well, I saw his face and I could see how he was looking at me, apologetic and sad at the same time. Together we have made great films: 3 Idiots (2009) and Talaash (2012). But you know what? It doesn’t matter. I wrote a long letter (on WhatsApp) to both Aamir and the director (Advait Chandan), telling them that our relationships and our talent do not depend on the outcome of a film,” Bebo told Mid-Day in October 2023.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan will soon start working on Sitaare Zameen Par. The actor will star in the film alongside Genelia D’Souza. He will also produce Lahore: 1947, starring Sunny Deol.
