‘AAP govt is harassing me regarding legitimacy of newborn,’ alleges Sidhu Moosewala’s father, says, ‘will provide documents’

Sidhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh on Tuesday alleged that the AAP government was pressuring him to submit proof of the legitimacy of his newborn son, barely two days after the child’s birth.

In a video shared on his social media platforms, Balkaur Singh expressed being harassed by the district administration since morning to provide documents. He further appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to give him time to complete the treatment of his wife before he could provide all the necessary documents regarding her newborn.

“Since morning, the district administration has been harassing me to provide documents for my son. They are interrogating me to prove my son’s legitimacy. May my wife’s treatment be completed. “I am here and I will continue to be here.”

He added: “But if you are trying to harass me, be prepared to face the consequences. I’m not one to back down. “I have always followed the law and will provide all legal documents necessary to clear my name.”

Sidhu Moosewala welcomed a baby boy on Sunday, almost two years after the artist was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district. In his post, Balkaur also shared the photo of him holding the baby in his arms along with a welcome cake and Moosewala’s photo in the background.

In an Instagram post, Balkaur posed with staff at the medical center where the baby was born.

Earlier, Balkaur Singh had denied reports of his wife’s pregnancy at the age of 58 and even asked everyone not to believe the rumours. According to media reports, Moosewala’s mother underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) therapy to conceive the baby.

Sidhu Moosewala, 28, was shot dead on May 29, 2022 in Mansa.

The attackers fired more than 30 bullets at Moosewala, and local residents discovered him slumped in the driver’s seat.

Moosewala had contested the last Mansa Assembly elections as a Congress candidate but was defeated by AAP’s Vijay Singla.
