Selma Blair has been forced to apologize for publishing an Islamophobic rant saying that “Islam has destroyed Muslim countries” and she only came to the United States to “destroy minds.”
The Jewish actress sparked widespread condemnation for her since-deleted comment on a post by immigration reform advocate Abraham Hamra, attacking Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush for voting against a measure that would bar anyone participating in the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel to immigrate to the US.
“Thank you so much,” Blair, 51, wrote after Hamra called Tlaib a “liar,” “idiot” and “hateful anti-Semite.” as reported by the Daily Beast.
“Deport all these thugs who support terrorism,” he wrote.
“Islam has destroyed Muslim countries and then they come here and destroy minds. They know they are liars. Twisted justifications. May they find their destiny,” she allegedly wrote.
Social media users and the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the largest Muslim civil rights organization in the United States, accused the actress of being Islamophobic.
“Based on the hateful and ignorant comments Ms. Blair made, we doubt she ever had meaningful interactions with her Muslim colleagues in Hollywood or other members of the American Muslim community,” CAIR’s Edward Ahmed Mitchell wrote.

“I wrongly and inadvertently equated Muslims with radical Islamists and fundamentalists, a terrible mistake in my words, which resulted in hurting countless people that was never my intention, and I deeply regret it.
“As soon as I was informed of my mistake, I deleted the comment,” he wrote.
“Hate and misinformation are very easily amplified today. This time with my own hands.
“In this case, I was wrong in my writing and I fully acknowledge how I contributed to the Muslim community being understandably very upset,” Blair continued.
“I respect and love all peace-loving communities around the world. It was my Muslim friends who helped educate me and show me the way,” she added. “I am committed to thanking you for your love and understanding.”
The “Legally Blonde” and “Hellboy” actress said that wherever she goes, she tries to “create branches to hold on to, bridges to meet for all marginalized communities.
“I am dedicated to tolerance and peace for all who desire it, not to hatred,” she added.
