Adam Sandler may not be the heartthrob of the year, but he will always be a knockout for people.
Sandler was honored at the People’s Choice Awards on Sunday night with the icon award. The actor and comedian was introduced by his old friend and “Murder Mystery 2” co-star Jennifer Aniston.
“I’m here to recognize my very good friend, my brother from another mother, an extraordinary father (and) husband and one of the most loyal friends you could ever have,” Aniston said, praising Sandler as “iconic.” “I can’t remember a time when Adam wasn’t part of popular culture.”
Sandler began his acceptance speech by thanking Aniston for her tribute. “I love you so much. And I know you don’t love doing things like this,” to which Aniston joked, “I love it. I get nervous.”

The “Happy Gilmore” actor later confessed that he confused the PCA award with People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive title, prompting him to read a speech he prepared for the honor.
“To the members of People Magazine’s Hotness and Sexiness Academy, I’d like to thank you for recognizing me as the man who made our entire country horniest this year,” Sandler said. “And he was by far the person couples or groups talked about the most in the bedroom during fantasy role-playing and slapping moments.”
“I’m trying to be nice, People Magazine, but I have to admit that three words keep popping into my head right now: ‘It’s about time!’ “he joked on stage. “For decades, Adam Sandler has been waiting patiently on the sexy bench.”

Sandler also poked fun at her signature baggy style in his comments.
“I’m not hiding anything. Beneath my XX, baggy casual clothing is pure perfection. Here are the highlights. My abs, they don’t have any. My hip bones, down there. My belly button, I lost that thing years ago . . My nipples: one pointing east, the other pointing south, and a third pointing at anything that dares to look at it.”
But it wasn’t all just laughter. The “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah” star also took a moment to give a heartfelt thank you to “all the people who have worked hard on the movies,” as well as his wife Jackie and daughter Sadie.
“My dear wife Jackie, you are my partner for life,” Sandler said. “I love every car ride and every kiss we’ve had. Forever and ever, my girl.”
