Aishwarya Rajinikanth reveals 21 days of Lal Salaam footage was lost

Aishwarya Rajinikanth opens up about her latest release Lal Salaam. The sports drama, featuring Rajinikanth in an extended cameo and Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles, did not perform as expected at the box office. In the interview, Aishwarya said, “It is true that we lost a lot of images. He surprised us that something like this could happen. It was about 21 days of footage. I must say that it happened due to irresponsibility, which was unfortunate. We had filmed a cricket match and it was a ten camera setup. We wanted to film it as if it were a real cricket match. We missed the images from the twenty cameras. We did not know what to do”.

He added that the crew had to make the difficult decision not to reshoot it and edit it with the surviving footage. “The problem was that everyone, including Vishnu, Senthil and Appa, also changed their attire. So, we couldn’t reshoot it. In the end we re-edited the film with what was left. It was a challenge. Although Vishnu and Appa were cooperative and ready to do it again, we couldn’t shoot it all again. It was a big commitment,” he said.

About the movie

Lal Salaam stars Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, who are seen as rivals since they were children. Rajinikanth appears as Moideen Bhai in the film. An excerpt from the Hindustan Times review of the film said: “Rajinikanth beautifully essays the dual role of a father, who has aspirations for his son, and a community leader, who believes that all people are one, irrespective of their religion or breed.
