Al Pacino Addresses Oscar Controversy Over Best Picture Presentation

[ad_1]

Typically, the Best Picture host briefly lists the nominees in the category before announcing the winner. Pacino, however, did not do so, instead telling the audience: “Ten wonderful movies were nominated, but only one will take Best Picture, and I have to go to the envelope for that.” He then announced the winner saying, “My eyes see oppenheimer“.

And fans were very divided over the Academy’s decision to go that route.

“The most anticlimactic Best Picture announcement of all time,” wrote one Oscar watcher on X. “I wanted to see all the nominees.” Another joked that Pacino’s presenting style was an “Oscar-worthy performance in its own right.”
