‘Alcohol-induced dementia’ and more bombshells from Dr. Wendy Williams

Last Friday, after a New York appeals judge ruled that he Lifetime The network could continue with its plans to air the two-part documentary. Where is Wendy Williams? The series aired its episodes on Saturday and Sunday, revealing a portrait of iconic television host Wendy Williams struggling mightily with what her adult son Kevin Hunter Jr. called “alcohol-induced dementia.”

“(The doctors) basically said that because he was drinking so much, it was starting to affect his mental space and his brain,” Hunter Jr. clarified on Sunday’s episode. “So I think they said it was alcohol-induced dementia.”

Last week, Williams’ team revealed a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia, a language disorder, in an attempt to “correct inaccurate and hurtful rumors about his health.”

In a statement on Friday, Williams herself expressed “immense gratitude for the love and kind words” she received following that news. “The messages shared with me have moved me, reminding me of the power of unity and the need for compassion,” she added. “I still need personal space and peace to thrive. Please know that we deeply appreciate her positivity and encouragement.”

The documentary, however, paints a disturbing picture of his current mental state. In one scene, while she is lying in bed, Williams tells her assistant that “she’s going to be back on TV in September.” When she is asked to explain what she means, Ella Williams adds: “According to my apartment.”

Elsewhere, Williams can be seen crying as he explains that due to lymphedema, he now only has 2 percent feeling in his visibly swollen feet. She berates a nail technician for applying a clear base coat of polish to her nails and asks, “Are you stupid?”

And in another clip, Williams’ assistant asks the host if he would like to go to the Oscars that weekend. “Oscar?” Williams responds. “What are the Oscars?”

“Well, the awards ceremony,” the assistant responds. “Would you like to go to an awards ceremony and walk the red carpet?”

“Yes,” Williams answers hesitantly, looking confused. “I want to wear this,” he adds, pointing to his shirt.

“No, you couldn’t use that,” his assistant responds. “You should be elegant, like in a dress.”

Later, Williams claims that his officially appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, is stealing money from him. “There’s no money for me at Wells Fargo,” Williams explains. “None.”

It was Morrissey who had filed the lawsuit against A&E last week in an attempt to prevent the documentary from airing. The first episode of Where is Wendy Williams? emphasizes that Morrissey and a separate “health care advocate” for Williams declined to speak to Lifetime for the documentary.
