They defeated the tough pairing of Indonesian legends Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in straight matches on Wednesday. Satwik-Chirag will face another Indonesian pair, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri and Bagas Maulana, who were All England Badminton Open champions in 2022.

Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa will also be in action later in the day.

Also in the fray will be Lakshya Sen, a former runner-up who is unseeded in Birmingham this year. He defeated young Danish southpaw Magnus Johannesen, 21-14, 21-14 in an easy Round 1 clash to finish as the only Indian in Round 2 of the men’s singles. Lakshya faces another, more compact, stubborn and faster Dane, fourth-seeded Anders Antonsen, who lost his first match of the World Tour 2024 badminton season last week. Meanwhile, Priyanshu Rajawat gave Chico Wardoyo a scare before losing.
