Amazon Partners With Nippon TV For ‘ACMA: GAME’ & BBC Podcasts

Amazon has closed pioneering agreements of its kind with the Japanese giant Japanese television and bbc for podcasts.

The old alliance will see Nippon ACMA: GAME drama series broadcast in main video Japan starting April 7, immediately following Nippon TV’s Sunday primetime slot, with the series’ global broadcast to follow on Prime Video two weeks later. Hulu Japan will also air the series immediately following the Nippon TV broadcast as part of this unusual deal.

Based on the popular manga of the same name written by Meeb (brave bell) and illustrated by Koji Megumi (bloody monday), ACMA: GAME It takes place in a devil’s world where the challenge is to conquer the world by collecting 99 devil’s keys. Players are required to participate and if they lose, they cannot refuse any order. The protagonist challenges the game by risking his life, along with that of the people who are being manipulated by the devil’s key.

The deal is Nippon’s first with a global broadcaster and was negotiated by Keisuke Miyata, Head of Sales, Global Business, Nippon TV.

“Japan is known for its exciting manga, but this one is exceptional,” said Japanese producer Naoto Fujimura.

“Audiences crave psychological death battle games like Kaiji, Death Note either Squid Gameand this has become a production of incredible scale that Nippon TV will confidently deliver to the world.”

The producer added that protagonist Shotaro Mamiya has “an unfathomable talent that is perfect to portray this epoch-making series that is sure to thrill global audiences.”

BBC podcast deal

Meanwhile, Amazon has struck a deal with the BBC that will for the first time allow the corporation’s podcasts to be available for streaming outside the UK.

Starting today, subscribers to the Prime and Amazon Music Unlimited services can exclusively access more than 50 BBC podcasts ad-free, including Americast, BBC Global News Podcast, Dua Lipa: At Your Service, The Global Story, Infinite Monkey Cage, Planet Premier League and World of secrets.

The deal will also allow ad-supported listening to the BBC’s entire catalog on BBC Studios, BBC Public Service and BBC World Service for Amazon Music users on the streaming services’ free, ad-supported tier.

“Audio storytelling has long been our strength as a global content producer and, with this partnership, we are delighted to bring our BBC podcasts to even wider audiences,” said Louise la Grange, senior vice president of audio. , digital news and streaming from BBC Studios.

The BBC has been seeking more commercial revenue outside the UK and has therefore struck deals such as the podcast partnership.
