Amy Schumer took to Instagram on Thursday to respond to audience criticism about her face during her appearances on Tonight’s show starring Jimmy Fallon and The view.
Schumer appeared on both talk shows to promote the second season of her show. life and bethwhich she wrote, directed and stars in. As clips of her interviews circulated online, some fans expressed concern about Schumer’s face, saying he looked more swollen than usual.
“Thank you so much for everyone’s comments about my face!” Schumer wrote on Instagram. “I have enjoyed feedback and deliberation about my appearance as all women do during my almost 20 years. And you’re right, right now it’s more swollen than normal.”
Schumer added that she has endometriosis, “an autoimmune disease that every woman should read about. There are some medical and hormonal things going on in my world right now, but I’m fine.”
Schumer went on to say that women’s bodies have historically been understudied and urged her fans to read All in your head by Elizabeth Comen for more information.
“I also believe that a woman does not need any excuse for her physical appearance and does not owe any explanation,” he continued. “But she wanted to take the opportunity to advocate for self-love and acceptance of the skin you’re in. Like any other woman/person, some days I feel confident and great and other days I want to put a bag over my head. But I feel strong, beautiful and very proud of this television show.”
Schumer concluded his message by writing: “Maybe we can focus on that for a while. I had backup dancers on Fallon, but my face is the headline,” and he added that he hopes everyone enjoys the Hulu series.
The 10 episodes of the second season of life and beth will arrive on Hulu on February 16.
