Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap took to Instagram to praise Kiran RaoThe last adventure as a director Ladies Laapataa. In a heartfelt review, Anurag described the film as “heartfelt, funny and beautiful” in his review.
In his Instagram post, Anurag expressed his admiration for Kiran’s ability to convey deep messages with subtlety. He admitted that he was moved to tears while watching the film and even brought along his host, Narayan ji, who hails from Bihar, which made him nostalgic for his rural roots. The filmmaker praised Ravi Kishan for delivering a lifetime performance alongside new faces.
“What a sincere, funny and beautiful film Kiran Rao has made. It says so much with such subtlety, but more than that, watching such a touching film, an incredible love story, a beautiful narrative with truth bombs dropping with so much humor every ten minutes. “I cried like a baby. I took my driver Narayan ji, who is from Bihar, and he told me, “gaanv ki yaad aa gayi.” The truth in the eyes of actors he had never seen before, all new faces with a lifetime performance by Ravi Kishan, production design, cinematography and then writing by Sneha Desai and the team. Anurag drew parallels between Laapataa Ladies and recently acclaimed Malayalam films Manjummel Boys and Bramayugam, expressing his satisfaction with the direction of Hindi cinema. He praised Kiran for venturing into uncharted territories, as did Varun Grover with AIR, and celebrated the promising start of Indian cinema in 2024.
