British cult action hero Scott Adkins has joined the cast of Kickboxer: Armageddonthe final chapter in the rebooted trilogy of the classic ’80s action franchise.

Adkins, a legend among action fans around the world for his long career primarily in direct-to-video films, including the Indisputable and accident man franchises, has recently become better known to a wider audience thanks to small roles in bona fide blockbusters, including The Bourne Ultimatum, marvel doctor strange and, most memorably, as the enormous German mafia boss, Killa, in John Wick 4.

Adkins will play Cesare in Kickboxer: Armageddon, a martial arts master who rules a sadistic cult, the descendants of the REG (The Elite Royal Guard) of Burma. Cesare’s teaching philosophy involves learning through pain.

The film is the last installment of the new trilogy based on the boxer Action franchise that, ahem, started in 1989 with Jean-Claude Van Damme’s home video classic. Alain Moussi returns as Kurt Sloane, a wrestler who seeks to avenge his murdered brother and who apparently never tires of beating up bad guys.

Dimitri Logothetis, who co-wrote the first reboot, directed by John Stockwell. Kickboxer: Revenge (2016) and directed the 2018 Kickboxer: Retaliation, returns to the director’s chair for the third film. The rebooted trilogy has won praise for its combination of modern effects and filmmaking techniques with old-school physical stunts and on-camera martial arts.

“Scott is an exceptional actor, as well as a martial arts legend, and I look forward to working with him,” Logothetis said of casting Adkins. “I know our boxer The fanbase can’t wait to see Scott and Alain in Kickboxer: Armageddon. Of Indisputable to accident manas well asThe Bourne Ultimatum“Scott has impressed us all with his unique action style.”

Kickboxer: Armageddon Principal photography will begin in Biloxi, Mississippi, in April.

Adkins is represented by Wonder Street, Gersh, The BWH Agency and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman.
