The double team of Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand defeated world number 6 Nami Matsuyama/Chiharu Shida, 21-17, 16-21; 22-20 to restore parity on the scoreboard, followed by Ashmita Chaliha pulling off an upset of her own, beating former world champion Nozomi Okuhara in straight games 21-17, 21-14. In the second doubles match, Sindhu and Ashwini Ponnappa would lose to the duo of Rena Miyaura and Ayako Sakuramoto 14-21, 11-21. With the score stuck at 2-2, it all fell on Anmol Kharb, who showed nerves of steel. to defeat top 30 player Natsuki Nidaira and seal the final spot.
