BATHINDA: Charan Kaur, the mother of slain Punjabi rapper and singer Sidhu Moose Wala, will reportedly give birth to her second child in March after conceiving through IVF when she was around 50, less than two years after her firstborn fell under the bullets of the assassins.

News of Charan Kaur’s pregnancy (she hasn’t been seen in public for over three months) first appeared online on Tuesday, quoting Moose Wala’s uncle Chamkaur Singh. He confirmed it after the family received dozens of calls.

Moose Wala’s father, Balkaur Singh, who retired from his state government post last year and has been on a relentless campaign to bring his son’s killers to justice, was not available for comment.

Sources close to the family said that for a 58-year-old expectant mother, Charan Kaur was doing well under constant medical supervision.

IVF success rate of only 20% in older women: doctor
Charan Kaur, sarpanch of Moosa village in Mansa, mentioned that she was 56 years old in an affidavit dated January 29, 2022, which she had filed as a “cover candidate” for her son when he contested the Punjab assembly elections this year. An experienced gynecologist told TOI that IVF, though popular, has a success rate of about 20%, especially in older women.

Moose Wala was 29 years old when he was shot several times while traveling in his truck in the village of Jawahar Ke, near Mansa, on May 29, 2022.
