At least one person was killed and 21 others were wounded by gunshots in a shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, after a rally Wednesday celebrating the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory, authorities said.
Eight of the injured had “immediately life-threatening” injuries, seven had life-threatening injuries and six had minor injuries after the shooting around 2 p.m. CT, Kansas City Fire Chief Ross Grundyson said.
Three people were arrested, although police did not identify the suspects.
The person shot to death was identified as Lisa López-Galván by her family. Radio station KKFI 90.1 in Kansas City, Missouri, said López-Galván was one of its DJs.
“It is with sincere sadness and an extremely heavy and broken heart that we inform our community that KKFI DJ Lisa López-Galván, host of Taste of Tejano, lost her life today in the shooting at the KC Chiefs rally,” the station said. in Facebook.
Police have not publicly identified any of the other victims.

Mercy Children’s Hospital said it was treating 12 victims, most of them children with gunshot wounds.
Three people were detained near a garage west of Union Station, Kansas City police said. Police are working to determine whether bystanders approached one of the detainees, Police Chief Stacey Graves said.
The shooting appears to have been criminal and non-terrorist in nature, based on a preliminary investigation, three law enforcement officials briefed on the incident said.
Police asked people to quickly leave the area so the victims could receive medical assistance.
Thousands of people had gathered in downtown Kansas City for a celebratory parade and rally at Union Station after the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory on Sunday.
Police said all Chiefs players, coaches and staff members and their families were safe.

A senior White House official said the Biden administration was “closely monitoring” the situation and that “federal law enforcement is on scene supporting local law enforcement.”
Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill He asked people to join him in prayer for the victims of “this atrocious act.”
“Pray for the doctors and first responders to have steady hands and for everyone to experience complete healing,” he said on X.
“Praying for Kansas City,” also Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said in x.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly was at the celebration and was safely evacuated.
