French Open 2024 Quarterfinal Live Results: PV Sindhu was eliminated in the quarterfinals after an epic battle against Olympic champion Chen Yufei at the French Open Super 750 badminton tournament. Sindhu went down 24-22 17-21 18-21 in a 92-minute clash where Chen was pushed to the limit.
Soon, Indian doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who made it to the quarter-finals, will take on the Thai pair of Jomkoh Supak and Kedren Kittinupong for a place in the semi-final. Lakshya Sen will also be in action at 9:30 pm IST when she takes on Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew.
Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand will be in action later in the day.
PV Sindhu was seen returning to her best against Beiwen Zhang in the round of 16. And despite her loss today, there will be plenty of positives to take away for the Indian superstar.
The double Olympic badminton medalist defeated Beiwen Zhang to win his second consecutive close match and demonstrate improved fitness and sharper play. Playing her first BWF Badminton World Tour event since returning from a knee injury, Sindhu went toe-to-toe with second seed Chen Yu Fei of China in the women’s quarter-finals, which were played at the badminton headquarters for Paris 2024.
In the last 16 of the French Open, Lakshya pulled off a fabulous comeback to defeat world No. 4 Li Shi Feng 16-21, 21-15, 21-13 in an 81-minute thriller.
Meanwhile, in women’s doubles, the pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, who shocked seventh-seeded Japanese duo Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota 21-18, 21-13 in the quarterfinals, will take on the top seeds Qing Chen Chen and Yi Fan Jia. of China in the round of 16.
