Bambu Lab is recalling all A1 3D printers; don’t use them until you read this | Top Vip News

Bamboo Laboratory is officially remembering all A1 3D printers (not counting the A1 Mini). The company is “strongly” urging owners to stop using it for safety reasons after it was alerted to “unstable temperature readings” which it first attributed to a faulty heating base cable. last weekas reported by Tom Hardware. After further investigation, Bambu says that “less than 0.1% of all A1 printers sold” are affected by the issue, but it can’t say with 100 percent certainty what the cause is, so it offers a full refund to any A1 owner who wants it.

The company isn’t recalling any other printers in its lineup, so if you own an X1 series, a P1 series, or the A1 Mini, which our own Sean Hollister called “almost the easy button” of printers.

The company wrote last week that I had not properly designed the strain relief on the heatbed cable (the thickest part of the cable intended to prevent it from bending where it connects), making it too easy to damage it and possibly cause a short circuit. But Bambu now believes that another as-yet-unknown issue could be at play for some printers, prompting its decision to recall the A1.

Bambu Lab says it will take up to 15 business days to process each refund, but if you want to apply the refund to one of its other printers, it will give you an $80 voucher to use on that purchase, or on a redesigned printer. A1 printer when available “around May”.

Alternatively, you can choose to repair the A1 yourself when the new heating beds are ready at the end of March and receive a $120 voucher to use on anything in Bambu’s online store (as long as self-repair is legal in your country) . Bamboo uploaded a video of the replacement process and details it in a written tutorial to help you decide if you’re comfortable going the DIY route.

Finally, Bambu asks A1 printer owners to inform the company which option they choose this registration page so you can order the correct number of pieces to prepare. Opt for the self-repair process in reality extend the A1 warranty in six months. Bambu says its official resellers “should” offer the same terms to those who purchased through one of them.
