After Barbie Director Greta Gerwig and star Margot Robbie were snubbed at the Oscars, with Hollywood taking to social media to share their reactions.

John Stamos got his wife Caitlin McHugh in a fun video he shared on Instagram using the voices of Robbie’s Barbie and Ryan Gosling’s Ken in a scene from the movie.

“This one goes out to Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, who created a film that was both a critical success and a cultural phenomenon, delving into feminist themes through the lens of Barbie and challenging patriarchal norms,” Stamos captioned on the video. “Not only did this movie resonate deeply, but it also grossed OVER a billion dollars. However, in a twist of irony, both women were snubbed by the Academy. Everybody go look again Barbie tonight.”

Simu Liu, who was a Ken in the Barbie film, expressed his opinion on Gerwig and Robbie’s snub.

“Being involved in a small way gave me a window into how hard Greta and Margot had to fight to get Barbie they did and how flawlessly they executed,” he posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “Together they started a movement, moved the world and revitalized cinema. They deserve everything. They are everything”.

Michelle Yeoh appeared in the Today show, where he was asked about the snubs.

“You know, joy and disappointment seem to go hand in hand,” Yeoh said. “For us it’s like there aren’t enough nominations to go around.”

He continued: “The only bottom line is that there’s a lot of competition out there and there’s no guarantee because you’re not the only voter, you know? It is very widespread. Thank God the film was nominated for Best Picture. But you think: ‘How do you get nominated for Best Picture but not Best Director or Best Actress?’”

Although Gerwig and Robbie were not nominated in the Best Director and Best Actress categories, respectively, they did score nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay for Gerwig and Best Picture for Robbie as one of the film’s producers.

“It happens and I’m sorry it happened to you because it’s obviously one of the most successful and beloved films. Look at the box office,” Yeoh added.
