HARRY KANE’S LAST GOAL GIVES BAYERN MUNICH A VITAL VICTORY OVER LEIPZIG
In the first match after it was announced that Thomas Tuchel would leave the club at the end of the season, Bayern Munich recorded a crucial 2-1 victory over RB Leipzig thanks to Harry Kane’s brace.
The England captain’s late goal snatched all three points from the Bavarian giants, reducing the gap to move top of Leverkusen to eight points. Meanwhile, Leipzig remain fifth, just one point off the Champions League places.
The hosts had the better of a rather timid first half with Harry Kane hitting the post with a header while Leroy Sane wasted a golden opportunity as he tried to round the goalkeeper. Leipzig defended well during the first half but offered little threat to Manuel Neuer’s goal.
However, the second half was a very different affair as Leipzig looked to be the better team and threatened to take the lead on multiple occasions. However, it was Kane who broke the deadlock with a typical instinctive shot from close range.
However, Leipzig were not done and continued to press and finally got their reward with an equalizer heavily deflected by Benajmin Sesko. Just when hope seemed lost for the hosts, Kane stepped forward again to snatch the game away from Leipzig with a clear half-volley home.
The winner took his tally to 27 in the Bundesliga this season and gives Bayern Munich an unlikely but not impossible mountain to climb in this title race.
