Beverly Hills police descend on Waldorf Astoria to investigate threat – The Hollywood Reporter

The Beverly Hills Police Department closed a major intersection at 90210 to investigate an “active threat” from an unidentified individual at the Waldorf Astoria just before noon Thursday.

A source at the scene said The Hollywood Reporter that a significant police presence surrounded the corners of Santa Monica and Wilshire boulevards, including a SWAT vehicle and a helicopter circling overhead. A steady stream of sirens could be heard for miles as both the Waldorf Astoria hotel and the adjacent Beverly Hilton hotel were locked down with the help of officers in West Hollywood and Los Angeles. The situation unfolded as a wave of music industry and media insiders were due to arrive in the area to obtain their credentials ahead of Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party, scheduled for Saturday at The Beverly Hilton.

Less than 20 minutes later, BHPD issued a statement saying officers had “detained a suspect and will remain on scene to investigate. There are no known threats to the public at this time. The roads will be opened shortly.”
