Beyoncé gets Dolly Parton’s country music seal of approval

The debate over whether Beyoncé’s new song, Texas Hold’em, is a country song that is officially over. Dolly has spoken.

In an Instagram post today (see below), Dolly Parton congratulated Beyoncé for making a country album and scoring No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart with the song. A second song, 16 wagonswas released simultaneously and charted at number 9 on the same chart.

Both are Beyoncé’s first entries on the list and both appear on Beyoncé’s upcoming eighth solo studio album, Act II, Its launch is scheduled for March 29.

Parton knows how difficult it is to cross genres. The 77-year-old country music icon released his first rock album, Rock starat the end of last year.
