In the first innings, Sarfaraz Khan scored a 48-ball half-century, the joint-fastest by an Indian Test debutant in the post-independence era, before departing with 62 after a horrific mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja. Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma was frustrated after the dismissal.
Sarfaraz Khan spoke about his dismissal after the end of the day.
“Sometimes there is miscommunication and it is part of the game. Sometimes you are left with nothing. These kinds of things happen,” Sarfaraz Khan said in the post-match conference.
Sarfaraz Khan added that Ravindra Jadeja helped him throughout his innings. “I spoke to him at lunch time. I am that kind of batsman who likes to talk while I bat about what is happening. So, I told Jadeja to keep talking to me while I bat. He was very supportive today and spoke to him .at lunch time,” said Sarfaraz Khan.
“He told me how debutants feel and how he feels as a debutant. I was a little nervous, especially when I played my first sweep and missed. But he told me to take my time and that it would be easy. I listened to him and tried to implement it. “
On what Jadeja said on his way out, Sarfaraz said: “He said there was a bit of miscommunication, but I said it was fine.”
