Blaise Taylor, former Titans scout, charged in poisoning death of girlfriend, unborn child

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A former Tennessee Titans scout has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his girlfriend and unborn child.

Blaise Taylor, 27, was arrested by Deputy U.S. Marshals at the request of MNPD in Utah following the grand jury indictment. Taylor worked as a professional scout for the Titans for four years, according to your LinkedIn profile. He is also the son of former University of Tennessee assistant coach Trooper Taylor.

The younger Taylor is accused of poisoning Jade Benning on February 25, 2023, and the unborn baby Taylor allegedly fathered.

Benning was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center by ambulance after Taylor called 911 and said Benning appeared to be having an allergic reaction and called for paramedics to help. Police said Benning’s condition immediately became critical. His unborn fetus died on February 27. Police said Benning was unable to be interviewed by detectives before his death on March 6, 2023.

Police said months of investigation, led by homicide Detective Adam Reese and involving crime lab scientists and doctors from the Medical Examiner’s Office, led to Wednesday’s murder charge against Taylor.

After Benning and the boy’s death, Taylor moved to Utah, where he worked with former Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson in Utah State University as Senior Defensive Analyst. Utah State officials said she left the university to take another position at another institution on March 1.

Metro Nashville Police will work with Utah authorities to arrange Taylor’s return to Nashville, which will likely take weeks.
