Blake Lively apologizes for mocking Kate Middleton’s ‘disappearance’ after cancer diagnosis

Blake Lively has apologized for mocking the Princess of Wales’s absence from public life following the announcement of her cancer diagnosis.

Kate revealed on Friday that she was in the process of receiving chemotherapy to treat cancer following abdominal surgery in January in an emotional video clip.

This followed weeks of speculation about the princess’s condition and whereabouts, a frenzy that peaked earlier this month after a post of a Mother’s Day photograph of Kate and her children was taken down for having been manipulated. A statement issued by the palace noted that she had been “experimenting with editing.”

Lively got involved in the online chatter about Kate and her editing mishap while promoting her beverage brand. The post showed a photo of her head blatantly photoshopped onto the body of a distorted woman lounging by a pool, with one of her Betty Buzz drinks in her hand.

The caption read: “So excited to share this new photo I just took today to announce our 4 new products @bettybuzz and @bettybooze! “Now you know why I’ve been missing.”

However, shortly after Kate’s announcement about her health, the former Gossip Girl The star shared a message on her Instagram story expressing her regret over the post.

“I’m sure no one cares today, but I feel like I have to admit it,” Lively wrote. “I made a silly post about the ‘Photoshop fail’ frenzy and oh man, that post has me mortified today. I’m sorry.

“Sending love and good wishes to everyone, always,” he signed the message and added a red heart emoji.

Lively’s original post has been deleted.

Kim Kardashian is another notable celebrity who became involved in the “Where’s Kate?” meme. Last week, the reality TV star and businesswoman posted a selection of photos, one of her outside next to a car, and captioned the photos: “On my way to pick up Kate.”

So far, Kardashian has not commented publicly on the update regarding Kate’s whereabouts.

The princess’s announcement showed her sitting outdoors on a bench, as she thanked people for their well wishes and support.

“This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing our best to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” he added.

King Charles was also diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and paid tribute to his “beloved” daughter-in-law after the news broke, saying he was “very proud of Catherine for her bravery in speaking out as she did”.
