Love may not be enough to get back together.
Brittany Cartwright claimed in a new interview that her ex-husband, Jax Taylor, is “not trying” to save their relationship after they decided to split after nearly five years of marriage.
“It’s Jax, so he’s not really trying very hard right now,” the “Vanderpump Rules” alum said. he told TMZ Saturday.
When asked if they would be willing to try marriage counseling, Cartwright hinted that she had already suggested that approach.
“I’ve asked him for a while to do certain things and nothing has come of it,” he said.
Giving more insight into the status of their relationship, Cartwright, 35, explained: “Whenever you fight with someone for that long, there’s only so much you can take, and you know, I deserve better (our 2-year-old son) Cruz “He deserves better.”
“We want a good co-parenting relationship and I think moving out and taking space to figure out if this is what I want is the best situation for me right now,” the reality star added.
Cartwright insisted he still loves Taylor, but reiterated: “I just want the best for myself and my son right now. “That’s my main focus.”
“If he changes some things and changes some things in his life, then maybe we can get back together,” she said. “But right now, I don’t know.”
Confirming Page Six’s earlier report, the mother of one also said their split is “absolutely not” a publicity stunt to promote her new show, “The Valley,” which premieres March 19 on Bravo.
“This is definitely for my mental health,” Cartwright told TMZ. “I think that’s been one of the hardest parts right now: People are speculating that I’m doing something for the show that’s coming out.”
The Bravo star said the new series will show why she and Taylor, 44, ended up taking a break from their romantic relationship.
Cartwright and Taylor married in June 2019 in a ceremony that appeared on “Vanderpump Rules.”
They welcomed their son in April 2021, a year after announcing they were exiting the hit Bravo series.
Cartwright announced the split on her podcast, “When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany,” earlier this week.
“Yes, marriages in general are very difficult, and last year I had a particularly difficult year,” she reflected candidly.
“Jax and I are taking some time apart and I made the decision to move to another house to have some space for the sake of my mental health.”
