in a shorten Posted on Instagram on Sunday, Heming Willis said she was “triggered” after an anonymous outlet reported that the “Die Hard” star, 68, “has no more joy” after her aphasia progressed to frontotemporal dementia ( DFT).

“I just got clicked. “I was browsing, minding my own business, and I just saw a headline that had to do with my own family,” she began her video message on Instagram. “The headline basically says there is no more joy in my husband. Now, I can tell you that is far from the truth.”

He continued: “Stop scaring people into thinking that once they receive a diagnosis of some type of neurocognitive disease, ‘it’s over.’ It’s over. Let’s pack it up. There’s nothing more to see here, we’re done.’ No. It’s the complete opposite of that, okay?

Heming Willis said that despite experiencing “pain and sadness,” his family’s “new chapter” is filled with love, connection, joy and happiness.

And he added: “That’s where we are. So stop those stupid headlines. These stupid clickbaity things that scare people. Stop doing that. There’s nothing to see here, okay?”

Heming Willis doubled down on his call for the media to be “mindful” of how they report on dementia in the title of his post.

“To anyone interested, consider how you present your story (sic) to the public about dementia and dig deeper. There are so many wonderful organizations and specialists within this space to reach out to so you can really do your due diligence to hone your story and your content.”

In March 2022, Willis’ family announced that he would retire from acting after being diagnosed with aphasia.

Almost a year later, his family shared an update that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia.

“We are going through this as a strong family unit and we wanted to appeal to his fans because we know how much he means to you, just like you mean to him. As Bruce always says, ‘Live it’ and together we plan to do just that,” his family said in a joint statement to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
