CAA Century City Headquarters Evacuated Over “Security Threat” – Deadline

CAA’s headquarters in Century City was evacuated after a threatening phone call was made to the super agency on Thursday, prompting the rapid departure of all staff from the building at 2000 Avenue of the Stars.

The Los Angeles police are on the scene as all staff have left the offices of the agency led by Bryan Lourd, Kevin Huvane and Richard Lovett. It is not yet known when the building could reopen.

“It’s a crazy, fucked-up world, and it hit us today,” one CAA employee cautiously told Deadline this afternoon.

While some senior staff can re-enter offices once they are cleared by security and police, the day ends today for most at the agency.

“CAA Global Safety & Security has confirmed that the CAA Los Angeles offices have received a security threat,” reads an internal email sent to staff this afternoon. “Your safety is our top priority. While the credibility of the threat is investigated, out of an abundance of caution, we will close the Los Angeles offices. Please return home and encourage those who can use the stairs to do so as there may be congestion in the lifts.”

There was a similar incident at the building in 2015, when LAPD investigated a suspicious package dumped at a bank there. No bomb was found, but the package contained “an unknown liquid,” police said at the time. The incident later turned into a hazardous materials issue.

Prior to the 2020 lockdown, the CAA building was evacuated due to a gas leak.

UTA’s Beverly Hills headquarters was evacuated in July 2022 over an alleged bomb threat in the form of a suspicious package, and WME’s Los Angeles office building was cleared in 2018 when police checked a suspicious package there.
