Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are officially a family of four.

The couple took to Instagram on Friday to share the birth of their son, Cardinal. The actress and the musician already share a daughter, Raddix, who was born in December 2019.

“We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our son, Cardinal Madden,” they wrote in a joint post. “He is amazing and we are all so happy he is here! For the safety and privacy of the children, we will not post any photos, but he is very cute. We feel very blessed and grateful. We send lots of love from our family to yours! My best wishes and good afternoon!!

The Instagram post also featured a colorful drawing with the words: “A little bird whispered to me.”

Benji’s brother Joel Madden, Pete Wentz, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry were among the celebrities who shared heartfelt reactions in their comments.

Diaz and Madden married in January 2015 and welcomed their first child almost five years later. They wrote on social media at the time: “We are so happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade by announcing the birth of our daughter, Raddix Madden.”

The couple, who primarily keep their relationship private, noted that they also planned to keep their daughter out of the spotlight and decided not to share any photos of her online.

During an appearance at Tonight’s show starring Jimmy Fallon In October of last year, Diaz called Madden the “best dad ever” and said he loves creating songs for his daughter when she’s home.

“I told him, ‘You have to do it as a children’s album,’” the actress said. “Because it has the best songs. They play in my head all the time because he sings them to her, she knows the words and it’s the sweetest thing ever.”
