Camila Cabello drank wine and spilled tea during his Wednesday (March 6) interview at Alex Cooper’s calls his daddy podcast, especially where Shawn Mendes I was worried.

Sitting with a glass of red in hand, the 27-year-old singer was asked point-blank about her relationship with her duet partner “Señorita,” whom she dated for about two years before breaking up for the first time in November 2021. Let’s move forward until spring 2023, when the couple apparently rekindled their romance. But after packing in PDA at Coachella and attending one of Taylor Swift’s Eras tour shows Together, the couple called it quits once again.

“It’s crazy because I’m a little impulsive that way,” Cabello told Cooper, reflecting on why she got back together with Mendes in the first place. “If I’m sorry, I’ll say it. I would rather say it and see what happens and then wake up the next day and find out that it has been widely documented. I opted for that route. It is what it is. It was a fun time; “It was a fun moment.”

“I will always care about him and love him. He is a good person,” he continued. “I’m lucky because some people have exes who are horrible and he doesn’t. He is a really kind and good person.”

The “Havana” singer went on to explain why she and Mendes broke up for the second time. “It wasn’t even a decision. I think you’re like, ‘Yeah, this really doesn’t… it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t feel right,’” she said. “Fortunately, I was at a point in my life where… it took us both less time to say, ‘This doesn’t feel right and we really don’t need to try as hard to make it work.’ It’s all good, let’s move on.’”

“The worst thing that can happen to you in life is ‘What if?’” Cabello added.

He X Factor alum, who recently mocked his next single On social media, she also confirmed that she is currently single. “I love it,” she told Cooper. “But I’ve also had a lot of relationships since I started dating. It’s fun to meet people, talk and see what happens.”

But that doesn’t mean that the heartaches you experienced in the past don’t still hurt you. “It feels very out of your control,” Cabello said, speaking generally about his past breakups. “Sometimes it’s like, ‘I wanted it to be this person so badly.’ But it’s not, and it’s very difficult to let go. To think that I really wanted this, but the fact that I can’t make this person who I wanted them to be… it’s really hard.”
