Carl Weathers Called Gina Carano After ‘Mandalorian’ Firing – Deadline

Former mandalorian Veterinarian Gina Carano wrote a warm and extensive tribute to her Disney+ colleagues. Star Wars series co-star Carl Weathers on Instagram. The actor died today at the age of 76.

“He was gentle and encouraging and didn’t want me to give up, he was letting me know he wasn’t giving up on me, he was trying to keep my hope alive in what seemed like a pretty hopeless scenario, he showed me he cared. “That’s what he was.”

“I bonded very closely with him on seasons 1 and 2 of Mando,” Carano writes, “Jon Favreau felt he would be a good mentor for me because we shared the athlete-turned-actor bond, so John asked him to direct my first episode in season 2 of Mando.”

“I think if we had gotten to Rangers of the New Republic, Carl would have directed me a lot more. Jon F. was right: we fit together perfectly.”

“Carl was a mentor to me on set, he would put both arms on my shoulders and look me straight in the eyes to calm my spirit,” she explained on IG, “He had a wonderful perspective in telling a story that can only come through. “His experience and wisdom that he shared with me to help me shine. I cherish those moments.”
