Carl Weathers’ cause of death revealed

More details have emerged about the death of Rocky Star Carl Weathers at the age of 76.

The death certificate, obtained by The explosion but not confirmed by the actor’s family, lists “atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease” as the official cause of death. According to the document, Weathers died at his home in Venice, California, on February 2 at 12:18 a.m.

The death was listed as “natural” and the document said Weathers had suffered from heart disease for years.

The certificate describes that the actor spent 51 years in the entertainment industry.

Weathers played Apollo Creed in the first four. Rocky movies and appeared in Predator, The Mandalorian, Happy Gilmore, Action Jackson, Arrested Development and dozens of other movies and television shows.

In a statement at the time of his death, Weathers’ family said he “died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1, 2024.”

“Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life,” the statement continued. “Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized around the world and from generation to generation. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend.”
