Celine Dion stuns as she sings backstage at the Grammys with nominee Sonyae Elise, following the star’s shocking appearance at the show amid her battle over stiff person syndrome.

Celine Dion showed off her continued vocal prowess while singing a song backstage at the Grammys on Sunday, after her battle with stiff-person syndrome forced her to step away from her career.

The singer, 55, was greeted with a standing ovation as she took to the awards stage, before fans went into an uproar after Taylor Swift, 34, “ignored” her while collecting her Album of the Year award.

The star downplayed the backstage drama as she sang a duet with the Grammy nominee, showing off her stellar vocals as the couple embraced.

Sonyae shared the clip on her Instagram and her fans were captivated by the collaboration.

At Dion’s appearance, she presented her award to Taylor, but fans pointed out that Swift didn’t recognize her and didn’t make eye contact, quickly looking back to celebrate the moment with her collaborators.

However, there seemed to be no hard feelings as the iconic couple posed happily backstage.

Celine also spoke with Stevie Wonder and met with Oprah Winfrey.

Swift, who was nominated for her 2022 album Midnights, became the first person to win the award four times and thrillingly took the stage at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

‘Taylor Swift didn’t even hug or greet Celine Dion. “I can’t stand this shit,” one angry fan later wrote on social media.

Dion was visibly emotional as she took the stage with the support of her eldest son, René-Charles Angelil, 23, to cheers and a standing ovation and to present the Album of the Year.

She said: ‘Thank you all! I love you too. You are precious. When I say I’m happy to be here, I mean it from the heart.

“Those who have been fortunate enough to be here at the Grammy Awards should never take for granted the tremendous love and joy that music brings to our lives and to people around the world.”

‘And now it is a great joy for me to present a Grammy award that two legends Diana Ross and Sting presented to me 27 years ago. These are the most notable nominees for album of the year.’

Celine then announced that Swift’s acclaimed album Midnights had won the award, making Grammy history by winning the award for the fourth time.

Celine looked incredible in a terracotta coat and sparkling jewelry as she was helped onto the stage.

The star’s struggle to continue her career will be chronicled in the new documentary I Am: Celine Dion.

The hitmaker announced in December 2022 that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, an extremely rare disorder that causes the muscles in the torso and limbs to alternate between spasms and stiffness. She revealed that she would be quitting acting.

The new documentary, captured over more than a year of filming, follows the star as she struggles to continue her normal life and career amid her diagnosis, promising that the condition “won’t define her” while promising to raise awareness.

Swift was nominated in six categories at the ceremony: Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for ‘Anti-Hero’ and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration ‘ Karma’ with Ice Spice.

The pop star won Best Pop Vocal Album and the night’s top honor, Album of the Year.

Swift beat out an impressive field for the award, including: Boygenius – The Record, Janelle Monáe – The Age of Pleasure, Jon Batiste – World Music Radio, Lana Del Rey – Did You Know There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, Miley Cyrus – Vacation of endless summer, Olivia Rodrigo – Guts and SZA – SOS.

The big win made her the first person to win the jackpot four times, as she was previously tied with Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra and Paul Simon for the record.
