Center points out age limit after Sidhu Moose Wala's parents had baby through IVF

Balkaur Singh claims that the district administration has been harassing him.

Chandīgarh:

The government has set the age limit for conceiving a child through IVF method after late singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s parents had a second child last week. The singer’s father, Balkaur Singh, claims that the district administration has been harassing him to obtain documents about the boy.

The couple was blessed with a son last Saturday, almost two years after their singer son was shot and killed. Charan Singh, 58, had conceived the child through in vitro fertilization (IVF) technique, a relative had said earlier this year.

In an Instagram video on Tuesday, Balkaur Singh asked the administration to let the treatment end.

“The district is harassing me to provide documents regarding the child. I request the government and the Chief Minister to let the treatment be completed. I will go when they ask me to appear. I assure you that I will show all the legal documents,” Mr. Singh said. .

Last week, the Union Health Ministry sought a report from the Punjab government on the IVF treatment of Charan Singh, mother of Sidhu Moose Wala, noting that the age limit for IVF is 21 to 50 years.

“As per Section 21(g)(i) of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, the prescribed age limit for a woman receiving ART services is between 21 and 50 years,” the letter said.

Announcing the birth of his second child, Balkaur Singh also shared a photo with him on Instagram last week and said that the family was healthy. His eldest son, singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moose Wala, was shot dead in Punjab’s Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
