NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk is dismissing all charges against country music artist Chris Young after he was involved in an altercation at a Demonbreun Street bar.

According to court documents, Young, 38, was at a bar on Demonbreun Street around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, January 22 when agents from the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) entered to complete a compliance check. Young reportedly held her ID over her head and a TABC agent verified it with the agency’s ID app.

On Wednesday, January 24, News 2 obtained the footage from Young’s attorney, Bill Ramsey, Neal & Harwell, PLC, showing Young standing at the Demonbreun Street bar.

The video, which appears to have been taken from a cellphone screen, shows Young near the exit wearing a leather jacket, jeans and a black hat.

Surveillance video, which only shows part of the incident, captures the moment Young raised his arm in the direction of the officer.

That’s when the video shows Young being pushed by one of the officers, which sent him backwards, knocking over stools and falling to the ground. He then appeared and raised both hands.

In the arrest report, the officer said he pressured Young “to create distance.” Another officer said they tried to talk to Young, but he allegedly started walking backwards and did not comply with the officers’ commands.

That’s when two officers said they physically detained Young and handcuffed him. Officers reported that several people who were with Young began following them “making the incident hostile,” according to the arrest report.

Young’s eyes were bloodshot and he slurred his speech during the ordeal, according to TABC agents.

The incident led to Young being booked into Metro Jail and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault on an officer. He was released on Tuesday, January 23.

On Friday, Jan. 26, Funk said his office reviewed all evidence in the case and determined that all defendants will be dismissed.
