Cher’s request for temporary conservatorship over her son Elijah Blue Allman has been rejected by a US judge.
The singer requested the order last year. due to Allman’s alleged substance abuse and mental health issues.
But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui denied the request.
According to American mediaHe said Allman had demonstrated that he “has managed his finances” and “has remained drug-free.”
Allman had to undergo several drug tests before the hearing.
Typically, a court grants a guardianship to people who cannot make their own decisions, such as those with dementia or other mental illnesses.
It can be used to manage a person’s financial or personal affairs, or both.
US Store People reported that Cher’s lawyers again raised concerns about Allman’s mental health during Monday’s hearing.
The judge said: “I don’t dispute that Cher’s concerns are motivated by concern for her son. I don’t think (Allman) disputes that.”
But he concluded that much of what the star’s legal term argued was based on hypotheticals and “fears.”
According to the AP news agencyUzcategui will continue to consider a broader, longer-term conservatorship at a hearing in March.
