Christian’s reign could be in danger after President Copeland was defeated

[ad_1]

Adam Copeland and Daniel García agreed to fight on February 14 Dynamite with the idea that the winner would be next in line to win Christian Cage’s TNT title. But just when it seemed that Copeland would be one step closer to keeping his former partner’s beloved belt. Cage sent his Patriarchy boys to cause AEW’s rare failure.

The Patriarchy was not over. With the help of Killswitch, The Prodigy and Mother Wayne, Christian would leave Cope lying in the ring after ringing his bell with a Con-Chair-To.

If they managed to sideline the former Edge, the plan could have been a success… at least for a while. But this did not lead to stretcher work. The announcers told us that Copeland walked to the back after his head was crushed between two chairs, which probably indicates that he won’t need as much time off.

And that probably means he’ll be back Revolution on March 3. The only people he is behind in the AEW men’s singles rankings are in the world title match with Samoa Joe, so if cleared, Cope should still be first in line for a title match of TNT at the PPV in Greensboro, North Carolina. Garcia is unranked, but he could make a compelling case that he should also be in Christian’s next defense. That would really ruin the Patriarch, as he would set up a Triple Threat in which he would not need to factor into the decision of losing his prized championship.

Christian is a pretty smart guy, but we don’t think this was his best plan.
