Emily Blunt revealed Thursday night Jimmy Kimmel live! that oppenheimer her co-star Cillian Murphy split her head open in the most unlikely of ways. The actor was injured while he was fluffing a pillow she gave him to help him sleep while filming the movie.
Blunt, Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. were on the show.
Murphy’s accident began when he was given a special pillow to help him get a good night’s sleep.
“I just felt like what Cillian needed, even more than food, was sleep in this movie,” Blunt said. “So I bought him this cute pillow that I’m obsessed with… it’s a Hästens pillow.
“He was really enjoying this pillow one night, and he woke up in the middle of the night (this is what he told me the next day) and went to curl up on the pillow again, misjudging where he was, and smashed his head on the pillow.” bedside table.
“So he came to work and they had to beat his head in!” Blunt said.
“I was a little surprised, you know!” Murphy responded. “She was sleeping really well and she had an amazing pillow, a strange bed, a strange table and bang!”
Murphy then called the film’s makeup artist, Luisa Abel, to help heal the wound.
“We would get up before dawn, like 2 a.m. or something like that, 3 a.m.,” he said. “So I called her then, walked in, and then she hit my head and covered it all up, and I don’t think you even see it in the movie.”
