Darius Rucker was allegedly caught with marijuana and psychedelic pills before his arrest in Tennessee on Thursday.

TMZ reports that the “Wagon Wheel” singer was in possession of the substances almost a year ago, on February 19, 2023, and finally turned himself in on Thursday.

According to the arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet, police in Franklin, Tennessee, stopped Rucker, 57, last February after noticing expired tags on his car.

Officers claim they smelled marijuana coming from his vehicle, although Rucker reportedly responded “no” when asked if he had smoked that night. However, he allegedly admitted that he may have smoked in his car the day before.

Cops searched the car and found what they suspected was a THC pen along with 14 unmarked purple pills, which the Hootie & the Blowfish frontman allegedly claimed his girlfriend, Summer, had given him.

After an officer told Rucker he would search him, the “Alright” singer allegedly handed him a small marijuana joint he was carrying in his pocket.

Officers released Rucker from the scene without charge, until the pills were identified, which is standard procedure for this type of crime.

Police later tested the pill and identified it as psilocin, a Schedule I controlled substance similar to psilocybin or magic mushrooms.

Therefore, an arrest warrant was issued against him in December 2023.

“This case is still active and any documents related to the case are not public record at this time. However, we can confirm that Mr. Rucker was detained during a routine traffic stop,” a Franklin police spokesperson told The Post on Friday. “He was released at the scene and turned himself in yesterday, which is routine procedure for this type of crime.”

Rucker was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of violating the state’s vehicle registration law.

He was released on $10,500 bail.

The Post has contacted Rucker’s representatives for comment.

His attorney told The Post in a statement Thursday: “Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities regarding the misdemeanor charges.”
