Disney Springs’ Raglan Road Irish Pub Sued After Allergy Death

[ad_1]

The family of a doctor who died from a severe allergic reaction is suing Disney Springs and a local restaurant. In the lawsuit, Kanokporn Tangsuan’s family says they visited the Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney Springs on October 5, 2023. The family says Tangsuan was highly allergic to nuts and dairy, but believed Disney would take precautions to keep her safe. According to the lawsuit, when the waiter approached the table, Tangsuan and her husband told them about her allergy. The family inquired about several menu items, and after speaking with the chef, the waiter confirmed that the food could be prepared free of allergens, the lawsuit says. The lawsuit claims Tangsuan ordered four dishes from the menu and the waiter guaranteed they would be allergen-free. When the waiter returned with the food, the lawsuit says some of the dishes did not have allergen-free flags. However, the waiter allegedly guaranteed that the food was safe. After dinner, the lawsuit claims Tangsuan decided to go shopping with her mother-in-law while her husband returned to her room. The two split up to shop at different stores, and that’s when Tangsuan began having severe difficulty breathing and collapsed to the floor, the lawsuit says. A 911 caller informed the dispatcher that Tangsuan was suffering from a severe allergic reaction and had emergently self-administered an epi pen. When Tangsuan’s mother-in-law could not contact her, she returned to the hotel. Once there, someone answered Tangsuan’s phone and advised the family to go to the hospital immediately, the lawsuit says. The two spent a short time in the hospital before being informed that Tangsuan had died. According to the lawsuit, the medical examiner’s investigation determined that the cause of her death was the result of anaphylaxis due to elevated levels of dairy and nuts in her system.
