Donald Glover thought he might consult Brad Pitt when he decided to undertake a new series version of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” Pitt, charmingly, according to Glover, declined.

gloveman appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” this week, where he remembered his attempt to speak with Pitt, who starred in the 2005 film with his ex Angelina Jolie, to get his take on the project.

“He didn’t give me any real advice,” Glover said. “He was kind of Brad Pitt to get out of this. He just loved the way out of it. He said, ‘Yeah, you know, you’ll do great.'”

Glover admitted that he hadn’t seen the 2005 film until recently, because he first wanted to know what the series would be like.

“At the time I hadn’t done it,” he said of the film when he met Pitt. “Obviously I’ve already seen it. It would be terrifying if he hadn’t done it. It’d be like, ‘Oh, that’s what this is about?’ Spies?’”

“It’s just a relationship, but with spies,” he added.

Glover’s co-star Maya Erskine also appeared on “The Tonight Show.”

The new Prime Video series follows two spies who are forced to adopt new identities in an arranged marriage.

“Mr. & Mrs. Smith” begins airing February 2.
