Elmo’s Wellness Check Reveals Existential Fear and Despair on Social Media

Thousands of people are unloading their life problems on Elmo this week after the red Muppet asked X a casual question: “How’s everyone?”

It seems like it’s not right.

In fact, the question, which was posted on

“Elmo, here I am suffering from existential dread,” a user answered.

“Every morning I can’t wait to go back to sleep. Every Monday I can’t wait for Friday,” another user. wrote. “Every day and every week for life.”

Even some celebrities joined in the collective broadcast of complaints. Actress Raquel Zegler said she was “Resist the temptation to tell Elmo I’m a little sad.”

Some joked that such a massive trauma dump must be too much for the poor puppet to handle.

All Elmo did was ask a simple question, but the answers were so overwhelming that the official “Sesame Street” account shared a link to mental health resources.

Still, the Muppets seem to be doing their best to keep up.

“Wow! Elmo is glad he asked! Elmo learned that it’s important to ask a friend how they’re doing,” he wrote in a follow-up post. “Elmo will be checking in again soon, friends! Elmo loves you.❤️ #EmotionalWellness”

Some, like singer-songwriter T-Pain, expressed gratitude for Elmo’s empathy.

“That’s love, stop at any time, brother.” he wrote. “Control your people 🙏🏿”

There were also people online who wondered if Elmo himself could use some love.

“Has anyone checked on you @elmo?” asked a x user.

Elmo did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Hopefully, he is taking a break from social media.
