Erling Haaland has responded to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s comments about Liverpool’s success meaning more than Manchester City’s ahead of their Premier League clash.
Erling Haaland has attacked Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold after the latter claimed that winning trophies “means more” to Liverpool than it does to Manchester City.
The two teams will meet at Anfield on Sunday in a match that will have big implications for the Premier League title race. Alexander-Arnold fueled the rivalry between the two clubs with his comments comparing their recent successes.
“It’s difficult. We’re up against a machine built to win – that’s the simplest way to describe City and their organisation,” Alexander-Arnold said. four four two. “Looking back on this era, although they have won more titles than us and have probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fans due to the financial situation of both clubs.”
“The way both clubs have built their teams and the way we have done that probably means more to our fans.”
Haaland, who won the treble with City last year, responded directly to these comments in an interview with Sky sports. He made it clear that he believes Liverpool are not in a position to compare themselves with City.
“If you want to say that, that’s fine,” Haaland said. “I was here for a year and won the treble and it was a pretty nice feeling.”
“I don’t think he knows this feeling. That’s what I felt last season, it was quite nice.”
When asked if the pregame talk adds anything to the game, he added: “No, they can talk all they want or he can talk all he wants. I don’t know why he does that, but I don’t know.” I don’t mind.”
Haaland is looking forward to a “big game” and believes it will be something special at Anfield. The two teams are separated by just one point at the top of the table and Liverpool have a slight advantage.
Haaland shared his excitement and said: “It’s going to be a great game. Liverpool are top of the league, so they’ve been the best this season so far, so we have to try to play our best.”
“I think City-Liverpool is a really special game overall, so it will be a special and really important game.”
Manchester City are concerned about Jeremy Doku being able to play. He could not play the Champions League match due to “muscle problems”, coach Pep Guardiola revealed. Liverpool, on the other hand, received a timely boost with the return of Mohamed Salah to the matchday squad for their Europa League match.
