Actress and comedian Nika King said in a recent monologue that she has had difficulty paying rent and landing other roles during the long break between seasons of the HBO series. King also said he hasn’t booked any roles since Euphoria: “I called Taraji and she was like, ‘Bitch, get used to it,’” referring to Taraji P. Henson’s statements about the pay disparity for black actresses in the industry.
King’s comments on the comedy set also triggered a wave of media coverage. In a statement to The Hollywood Reportersays that he was not entirely serious: “My reference about Euphoria during my stand-up tour it was a light-hearted joke. Most people have seen me play serious characters on screen, but my roots are in comedy.
“In fact, I have a few film projects coming out this year that I’m excited about. It is a blessing to forge a career in both drama and comedy.”
